This includes tools for project management, the management of requirements, risks, tasks, tests and errors that are essential for complex system development. Tools for the closely connected implementation, administration and versioning of documents and software, the build management and the monitoring of the quality of the created software round off the project’s tool setup in the special case of software development. A well-coordinated portfolio of development tools is particularly necessary for the standard-compliant development of safety-critical software and hardware (e.g. DO-178C – Software Considerations in Airborne Systems and Equipment Certification, DO-254 – Design Assurance Guidance for Airborne Electronic Hardware).
